Work and Welcome Program Update: Adi's* Inspiring Journey and New Opportunities

We have some fantastic news to share from our Work and Welcome program, an initiative that is transforming lives by providing essential paid work experience opportunities for refugees and people seeking asylum across Sydney.

This program is pivotal for individuals looking to gain valuable Australian work experience, and one inspiring story stands out: that of Adi. Adi has just started her first week in the events, sports, and maintenance department at one of our partner schools, and her enthusiasm is absolutely contagious.

She describes her experience so far as nothing short of amazing. Describing everyone as lovely, and the school environment being fantastic. The principal has already praised her contributions, highlighting how great she is, which only adds to her excitement.

The Work & Welcome Program helps refugees and people seeking asylum gain work experience and create vital employment pathways. Here are some key benefits that Adi and others are experiencing:

  • Safe Environment: Participants acclimate to workplace culture in a nurturing setting.

  • Boosted Confidence: Engaging in meaningful work enhances mental health and self-esteem.

  • Career Advancement: This program serves as a stepping stone to future employment opportunities.

  • Restored Dignity: It fosters a sense of self-worth and belonging among participants.

Through the Work and Welcome program, Adi is not just gaining invaluable experience; she is also contributing to her community and building connections that will help her in her future career.

Her journey is a testament to the positive impact of this initiative, proving that with the right support, individuals can thrive and make a difference. We can't wait to see how her story unfolds!
